Cyclone for sandblasting machines

How does the cyclone in the sandblasting machine work?

The cyclone for sandblasting machines is a centrifugal separator positioned between the sandblasting cabinet and the filtration system, whose function is to separate and recover the still usable abrasive. The air drawn in by the cabinet carries abrasive, dust, and processing residues generated during the sandblasting or shot peening process.

The flow enters the cyclone tangentially, generating a rotary motion. Thanks to centrifugal force, the heavier materials are separated from the lighter particles: most of the still efficient abrasive is recovered and recirculated, returning to the sandblaster's feeding system, while the light dust and finest residues are sucked up and conveyed towards the filter.

Inside the system there is also a sieve, which retains any heavy impurities, in this way the recovered abrasive is kept cleaner and free from contaminants.

This process allows for the continuous reuse of the abrasive that is still suitable for processing, helping to maintain a more stable and efficient finish.

What is the cyclone for sandblasting used for?

Thanks to the centrifugal action, the cyclone separates the materials based on their characteristics: the lighter powders are conveyed towards the suction, while the recoverable abrasive continues the work cycle.

The system also integrates a sieve that retains larger impurities and residues , preventing them from being recirculated.

The result is a cleaner, more select abrasive, ready to be used again in the sandblasting or shot blasting process.

Continuous separation allows for a more stable quality of the abrasive in the circuit, progressively eliminating dust and contaminants generated during processing.

This helps to achieve a more uniform and regular sandblasting, reducing variations due to the presence of deteriorated material or unwanted residues.

The recovery of the still efficient abrasive also allows for the reduction of waste and the optimization of consumption, exploiting the material until it maintains characteristics suitable for processing.

The cyclone therefore represents an important element for improving the overall efficiency of the sandblaster and keeping the abrasive circuit cleaner over time.

Consistent and repeatable finishes.

Cyclone for Venturi systems

In a venturi systems, the abrasive is sucked in thanks to the vacuum created by the compressed air in the gun.

In Venturi systems the cyclone can be standard or applied at a later stage.

The cyclone keeps the abrasive cleaner during the work cycle, progressively separating dust and residues and helping to obtain more uniform and consistent finishes over time.

Cyclone for pressure systems

In pressure systems, the abrasive is contained in a pressurized tank and forced towards the nozzle, with a quantity of abrasive delivered significantly higher than in the Venturi system .

In pressurized sandblasting systems, the cyclone is always provided as standard .

We do not recommend using pressurized tanks without a cyclone, to avoid the entry of residues that could cause tank blockages.
