Venturi sandblasting and shot blasting machines are the most widely used and versatile solution for surface treatment in mechanical, craft and industrial applications. Thanks to their ease of use and low maintenance costs, these machines are ideal for cleaning, satin finishing and surface finishing on a wide range of materials, from metals and plastics to glass.
The term “Venturi” comes from the Italian physicist Giovanni Battista Venturi. In compressed-air sandblasting machines, the Venturi system (also commonly known as a suction system) refers to a method of transporting abrasive using a pressure difference. Unlike sandblasting machines with pressure systems, where the abrasive is contained in a pressurised vessel, in Venturi systems the abrasive is stored in a container or hopper at atmospheric pressure. In sandblasting machines with a Venturi blasting system, the compressed-air flow creates a vacuum that draws in the abrasive and carries it to the blasting gun, where it is accelerated and projected onto the surface to be treated.
Compressed air is injected at high speed through a nozzle inside the blasting gun. The high-speed airflow creates a vacuum inside the blasting gun. The vacuum draws the abrasive from the hopper through the feed hose and carries it into the blasting gun. The abrasive mixes with the airflow and is projected through the nozzle onto the surface to be treated. The choice between a suction (Venturi) blasting system and a pressure blasting system mainly depends on the type of application, the size of the components and the amount of material to be removed. Sandblasting machines with a Venturi (suction) blasting system are the most versatile solution and are suitable for most sandblasting and shot blasting applications. These compact, easy-to-use machines deliver excellent results on a wide range of components and surface finishes, with a lower initial investment. Sandblasting machines with a pressure blasting system are recommended when greater processing capacity is required. The higher impact force and greater amount of abrasive projected allow stubborn residues to be removed more quickly and large components and surfaces to be treated effectively. The greater reach of the blasting stream also gives the operator more freedom during the process. Our testing laboratory is equipped with both Venturi (suction) and pressure blasting machines. We can carry out tests directly on your components to identify the most suitable technology and abrasive for the required result. / Venturi system /
